چکیده

Previous research (Laeng et al., 2007) conducted on Norwegian samples showed that blue-eyed men rate women as more attractive, while brown-eyed and all the show no differences in attractiveness assessments with respect to eye colour. Correspondingly, positive assortative mating was found for blue, but not brown eyes, it most often occurred men. We aimed replicate this blue-like-blue effect Croatian population, which differs ratio of colour phenotypes (blue is prevalent Norway Croatia). Additionally, we examined whether moderated by life history strategies sociosexuality. Our hypothesis would be larger those who exert a slower strategy are sociosexually restrictive. The replicated context preferences, although smaller than original study. However, unlike study, sample 138 pairing between their romantic partners. Finally, about moderation supported strategies, In addition rationale based paternity uncertainty account, offered authors discussed other accounts phenomenon.

Evolutionary history inferred from the de novo assembly of a nonmodel organism, the blue-eyed black lemur

Lemurs, the living primates most distantly related to humans, demonstrate incredible diversity in behaviour, life history patterns and adaptive traits. Although many lemur species are endangered within their native Madagascar, there is no high-quality genome assembly from this taxon, limiting population and conservation genetic studies. One critically endangered lemur is the blue-eyed black lem...

Deafness in blue-eyed white cats: the uphill road to solving polygenic disorders.

The pure white cat with luminous blue eyes is an attractive image familiar to many. These animals are well-known to be commonly affected by a congenital hereditary deafness that may affect one or both ears; the deafness is linked to the so-called W gene. Reports of this condition date back to at least the 1930s (Bamber, 1933), and many investigators have studied it in subsequent years (Wolff, 1...

The ‘six-eyed’ stomatopod

Stomatopods (mantis shrimps) possess one of the most complex visual systems in the animal kingdom. Each eye is capable of monocular distance judgement, colour vision involving eight or more primary channels and polarisation vision. This involves a series of eye movements unique among the crustaceans. Furthermore, each eye usually acts almost entirely independently of the other. Colour, in parti...
